i remember this, happend in my home town, east london - south africa. was at easterns or reef i forget - reef has the rep as the most number of fatal attacks ever in the world. i know about 5 ppl personally who've been bitten in east london.
this guy was luckier than most.

the surfer told the sharks he is a dentist and would charge 20 bucks for a tooth so thats why the sharks let him go.

it's mistaken identity they think were seals and once they realize were not seals they spit us out but sometimes a shark just takes a bite for reasons like territory and annoyance
