Yes, he did. I saw a special on PBS about Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson narrated it & interviewed him, and they showed a clip of Jimmy reading the Junin poem on Johnny's show. I just can't find that clip anywhere.

The one and only Jimmy (James) Stewart ... There aren't actors around like that anymore. Same goes for Johnny Carson ... class act ... Never got political with his shows. Thank God!

Jimmy Stewart is telling us what C.S. Lewis did in his book "The Four Loves", not to speak of Narnia; that animals too have an immortal soul and it is a privilege to come close to these members of God's creation. I hope we human animals can do better in giving them the love and respect they deserve. Thanks for posting, great tribute to Jimmy Stewart and the incomparable Johnny Carson.
