I'm just saying not everybody is going to throw there body at you when they punch and that this is not a very realistic scenario, and requires extremely fast reflexes and speed.
Nothing against Aikido.
<3 Aikido :)

That's the whole reason why what?
There would be no point side stepping into the direction of the strike if you are not up close to the person striking, I just said they probably won't throw there body at you too. IF they do throw there body, then this would surely work, but unless this is in some random event when your opponent is really mad or drunk and they don't know what they're doing and throw there whole body into a punch.. This would not work.

That's the whole reason WHY, you side step in the direction of the arm giving the punch. At that point the opponents other arm is useless, since he can't throw a hook punch 180 degrees. Not only that but you also stepping BEHIND your opponent, going into the choke. This is an excellent move. Just be sure that you will get punched.

Not everybody is going to throw there body at you in a punch. Also, they'll have recoil on that punch. Probably going to follow it up too. So unless you've got like.. Pssch I dunno, super unhuman reflexes. I'm not quite convinced that will work.
Maybe you'll get lucky.
