She didn't fail this rehearsal. She begins her international career with the patronage of Karajan after this meeting. She recorded Verdi's Un Ballo conducted by him, and they made schedules like Bach on Easter... Anyway, He died!!! :)

Sumi learned singing in Italy but she is appraised the most in her own country. Sad to see she failed this audition. I guess her look was too Asian for the character & her voice was too different from Bartoli. In my experience, mostly people are not told the real reasons for "no" so they are wondering why all their lives. Audition results can be personal, too. Anyway, I never like Karajan. Listening to him during my childhood was boring and he never inspired me til I switched to others.
