http://www.yadvashem.org Yisrael Gutman was born in Warsaw in 1923. His parents and older sister perished in the ghetto, and his younger sister was a member of Janusz Korczak's orphanage. As a member of the Jewish Underground in the Warsaw ghetto, Yisrael Gutman was wounded in the uprising. From Warsaw he was taken to Majdanek, and from there to Auschwitz. In May 1945 he was sent on the death march to Mauthausen. In total, he spent two years in the camps. After the war he helped in the rehabilitation of survivors, was active in the Bericha movement, and immigrated to Palestine in 1946. A world-renowned scholar of Holocaust studies, Prof. Gutman has dedicated his life to studying the Holocaust and perpetuating its lessons for the next generations.

Many people do not realize that one explanation of how the Nazi's found out so quickly and accurately who were Jewish in Europe, could have been by the genealogical research efforts of the LDS in Europe that was done, beginning very many years even prior to World War I. The LDS collects genealogical records and information about all people on all parts of the earth ( and not just about LDS ). The Nazi's in WWII were welcome then, as anyone on earth today may have access to all LDS Gen-records.

Dreejk, I want you to know that I deeply appreciate and repect you for what you do. You are absolutely right ... I have noticed that time has rusted the validity of history, especially for those who wish to embrace denial. I also will dedicate myself to protecting the "legacy of a people who were targeted because of who they were." May you be successful in your goal.

so are u suggesting that NO jew died of allied bombing or old age or disease or hunger...they all dies in the holocaust....besides the holocaust victims were homosexuals, Gypsies and jews.... y do we assume that every single victim of holocaust was a jew... its like twisting the facts to earn some sympathies

never again... the terrors that man can waylay upon his fellow man sends chills up my spine. we think we are so far removed from these times, here is a man still living from 2 generations ago. it can happen again if we don't stay vigilant

BUT, that is not even my point, freedomofspeech. You do not have to be ashamed of the course of action your country took decades ago. You should not have to embarrass yourself with anti-factual sentiment for the sake of the mistakes of a society you were never part of. You should not feel obligated to wipe away the guilt of your predecessors. In fact, because you are a person first, and a German second, you should feel obligated to making sure an event like this never takes place again.
