do you mean intel centrino dual core or just a single core, core 2 duo is just better anyway because it has a larger cache, my core 2 duo e6400 overclocks to like 2.70 ghz at stock voltage!

yes core 2 duo has 2 cores, and core 2 quad has 4 cores.

Just that there are two more cores, there won't be much performance difference between them, because most software hasn't been written for multi-core processors. But you might see a slight increase in frame rates in newer games and some small operating system optimizations.
