Combination of the okinawan instrument sanshin and Brasilian rithm. The song was born when Miyazawa "deparou-se" (?) with the film "Navy no koi" (from Hiroshi Nakae)which scenery takes place in Okinawa ( a man called Sanra abandons his birthplace and goes to Brazil. After sixty years he returns to search for the woman he loves named Navy who was left in the Island) wich placed Miyazawa in Sanra´s place. It is a music that makes one remember Okinawa from far distances."Okinawa ni furu yuki" is a simbol that schows that there is nothing more beautiful than that. (Kazufumi Miyazawa) http://www.five-d.co.jp/miyaza... It's a fantastic a song and made even more so by the fact that he was born and bred nowhere near Okinawa. Isn't he from Yamanashi ken which is surrounded by mountains? Correct me if I'm wrong here. In a country of tadry pop crap, this song rises head and shoulders above the rest.

I agree it has a mix of the Okinawan sounds along with a Hawaiian influence. Has he been to Hawaii. There is a large Okinawan community there.
