Pretty sad what happened to this old guy's mind in his last years. Why do his students play this game and encourage this crap? Or are they brain washed?

thanks for posting, always enjoy seeing o sensei doing his thing. as far as the ki movement thing, I know there are a lot of opinions, but what I want to hear is someone who can do what o sensei did tell us what they think, cause if you can't demonstrate the skill,

Similarly to how Ueshiba went crazy in his last years, modern Aikido has become crazy in its approach to fighting.

and little training. People try to imitate O'Sensei's Aikido by trying to lead the mind before learning to lead the body and it really does look like crap. Dont let these people influence your opinion on real Aikido and that of O'Sensei, he was a true master of the art indeed so much so that he didnt even need to touch you! Now thats an amazing gift only a handful of people in the world can do though many people attempt it.

I read an article on Aikido Journal website the other day and this guy goes on to say that there is a lot of crap Aikido out there which misleads many people and I tend to agree especially on youtube. Some of the sh*t I have seen is unbelievable and what is disturbing is they are teaching a whole class of people who believe this stuff will work. I would advise people to not judge Aikido by what you see on youtube because the stuff that is on here is usually posted by people with inflated egos...

to fall down. Sure it looks really fake but then again there must be something in it that people like you and I cant see or feel and I guess that explains what chi or ki is. As mentioned below ones mind becomes lead and in turn your body follows. Those guys falling over are so sensitive to energy from years of training that they can see that their own intention fall back onto themselves so they dont fight it. If you want to fight it then you will still end up falling over so way or another.

I have to laugh when people say "this is bullshit" or "Aikido doesnt work against a bullet". Firstly what martial art does work against a bullet? Aikido doesnt make you invincible and no proper instructor teaches you such nonsense. Secondly how do you know it doesn't work? Were you there at the time? Theres nothing wrong with scepticism but outright dismissal is just ignorance. I've watched a couple of youtube vids on some TaiChi masters and they do the same thing where people just appear...

doubleg35, I couldn't disagree more. Aikido, as developed is ever changing. Ueshiba's Aikido constantly changed. HIS Aikido may have died with him but Aikido did not. Many practitioners try to emulate him and I think that can be a mistake. Everyone has their own uniqueness and should tap into that. |
