it's still self-deprecating... the american announcers tried to pronounce liu's name as best they could, even tho they knew they couldn't get it perfect.

lmao i dont consider it derogatory remark. obviously u never heard of leehom chink out style. and plz i can pronounce just fine kid and if i wanna show my nationalism i can dont fucking tell me what to do.

Wow, I'm Chinese and I care about my pronunciation very much. Lay off the nationalism for a bit and stop the self-depracating derogatory remarks.. And... go Liu Xiang!

ah, so seeing as I didn't burst your bubble, then you were probably directing your frustration at the other guy. sorry for the confusion, I thought you were getting at me, haha. yeah, as you said, those american broadcasters should learn how to pronounce properly as long as liu xiang keeps kicking ass.

pandacomics (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
or are you referring to the other guy.
pandacomics (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
and your assumption would be wrong. I'm from hong kong, and learned mandarin for 10 years. sorry to burst your bubble though.
