The original record is just terrific. Coral had a sound quality matched by few other labels, including its mother label Decca. Its major arrangers did unique voicings with horns and strings and used dynamics in arrangements to a point few arrangers did. The McGuires, Teresa Brewer and other Coral artists suited this approach perfectly and accounted for the parade of gold records the label piled up.

Notice how, at the start of the song, the sisters have to tone down their usual vigorous singing to not overwhelm Perry's softer style.
I assume, from his last remark about rubbing Noxzema on their gold record, that 1) Noxzema was one of his sponsors, and 2) they might've gone into a Noxzema commercial right after this.
