nope.emo originated from 80's underground punk scene and was described as emotional hardcore or"emocore".by the early 90's this emocore was labeled to bands emerging out of the washington d.c. hardcore scene (i.e. fugazi).by the late 90's, so-called "emo" bands like dashboard confessional appeared on mtv and airwaves and emo label stuck to suburban white teens that had nothing better to do but whine and eventually to this day whine, dye their flat-ironed hair black. emo never came out of 60's
