Thats something I read somewhere by a 9th dan Aikidoka.

When we first train in Aikido our techniques are harsh and dangerous and cause injury and our minds are weak. After decades of training our techniques become so soft that to outsiders they look ineffective, yet our minds are strong and remain so under any adversary.

I think its nice to see someone by praticing, who has such control over hes body and mind. Very nice video

I practise the budo variant of aikido and I can tell you that is most defenetly has an offrnce as well. espacialy with swords, knifes, and sticks aikido has a large amount of offence techniques and I can tell you that it works fine on the street it might not be in a good form like you see in this video but its defenetly efficient.

You're possibly right.
Aikido is not easy to put to practice(ie in the street).
Besides, once someone asked O'Sensei what he would do if someone attacked to him where he was walking. It is claimed that he said "I'd go to the other side of the street".
On the other hand, what you see above is training. Since none gets hurt means that Ki flues with great rythm. If someone disturb's the other's Ki, the sittuation won't end nicely for that one.

When I look to the offencer of Ueshiba that is not the way like someone will attack you. It is just a game. Once I found a black belt aikidoka who wants to figt against me. I usted very simple karate techniques and he was completely overwhelming because he never expected two or three attacts in one time.

What if I told you... excluding any earlier encounters... I've had one attempt to murder me by someone with a gun, two attempted abductions on the same day, and three fights. Two dead bastards, one in hospital, one idiot with a dislocated shoulder, one unconscious deluded person, and one whack in the face for me. You're right, I should have cross-trained. ONLY JOKING!
