yeah they are, I used to train Kodokan and then we had to switch over, I remember my first tournament with them, I did a throw where the guy went to his knee and then over and managed to get him down and was given an Ippon for it, I was like wtf, koka, yuko at best and then the other fighter came up and was like awesome throw man, I stood there like ok then. Just go back to kodokan scoring and fighting

Yup. That's fine. I would be totally cool with that. BJJ ground rules with a 10 point Ippon, and maybe a 5 point Waza or Yuko, and you would be back to original Kodokan Judo in tournaments.
F**k the IJF they are ruining the sport.

ippon is 10 points not 7

the video repeats shots of the same throws too often, but good footage.

I love Judo but hate the rules. Ippons are handed out like confetti for crap throws ... ridiculous
Just give more points for throws and use a BJJ system:
Ippon=7, Waza-ari = 4, Yuko = 3, Koka = 2
And use the BJJ scoring system on the ground.
this would be the best system for tournament, and therefore completely change the ratio of standing:ground training in dojos. There would be no such thing as separate BJJ and Judo anymore. There would be no need. You would get best of both.

some of the ippons are great, but some of them looks like Im watching something different from Judo. more like watching kids power Judo because there is no judo skills involved. 1:26 is great "judo". Judo isnt wrestling, you know? 2:43 is a beautiful throw! :D |
