"Feminist-blaming" is as old as the women's movement itself. We hear people blaming women for asserting our desire for autonomy and choice. BUT, the stereotypes about feminism are everywhere. Feminists do NOT represent one thing, but many things. Feminists do NOT hate men and do not want men to be exploited any more than women are. But we must acknowledge that we (women) continue to be exploited at far greater rates than men, and this is something that can and should be changed.

Yes, scapegoating is the relevant word here. When have ever any feminism been self-reflective and trying to solve the problem instead of blaiming it on constructs like the "patriarchy" or "maleness"?
You demonstrate this perfectly, saying that society is failing due to men not taking responsibility.
And ofcourse the usual shame and blame tactics, anyone opposing feministic sexism are murderers, rapists etc. A statement wich in itself is ofcourse sexist aswell.

Well, I guess that makes you illiterate, doesnt it? Or are you so prejudice that you really cant see what im saying?
I think before you start trying to change the world, youd better change yourself, because noone will benefit from the hateful and fearful attitude you project.

@s031720 you're an idiot, "gender coding", i.e. "gender roles" is NOT a value of "feminism", it's patriarchy that enforces the idea the female is this and male is that. Good god, get yourself an eduction and stop trying to blame "feminism" when you obviously know NOTHING about it. Feminism is about equality, not about any one sex being "better" than the other. Stop perpetuating lies. I'm so sick of hearing this crap "feminism is to blame for men acting violent, dumb, macho, etc." Lies lies lies.

As to be expected, already the apologists are blaming women and specifically feminist women for the violence that MALES do. Typical scapegoating from people that would rather pass the buck, continue to murder, rape, assault, and be continue the myth of male macho-ness rather than do the hard work, be self-reflective and actually try and solve the problem. No wonder there's a male crisis, no wonder society is failing, no ones willing to take responsibility for their actions.

hmmm.....this fag lover makes a good point.
the media makes us seem tough.
maybe the public would be more interested in watching REAL MEN sew shirts and talk about their feelings.
Oh! Wait! Thats what soap operas and chick flicks are for! haha.
So, the media does what the media will do to entertain the public.
I certainly don't have any desire to watch two men shopping at the mall.

That may be true in the case of radical lef-wing lesbian feminists, who too often see the other sex as men rather than as persons. But I am a male feminist and I never felt the need to prove myself to anyone. In fact, having to "prove myself" is one of the notions I rebelled against since childhood.
Wytchfinde (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
No, so031720 doesn't haven it backwards. In fact I'd even go so far to say that feminists will use men via proxy just like "traditional" women to get dirty work done in more than one way. Even male feminists have to "prove" themselves in some way, and are suspect because some gender feminists believe men can't even be true feminists simply because they are men . .
