Just to make sure: Bob Dylan is my favorite songwriter ever, and he is a genius. That doesn't mean the drugs he took didn't affect him or that he is an angel. If anything, drugs made it worse although I don't want to tamper with history and imagine what would have happened if he didn't take any. He wrote many amazing songs at the beginning of his carreer before he started to go nuts (and still wrote great songs).

That's because we look up to Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell etc due to their music, message and poetry. That doesn't mean we agree with taking drugs and acting like a jerk (which Bob did). I can think of a few groups who are powerful and meaningful in their own way e.g. Rage Against the Machine. (humanbeing, you should look them up and listen to their lyrics. Don't expect the same, as they are not. But it may give you a ray of hope to see that there are people and musicians who do care.)

it probably wouldn't matter because you're so close minded to music and anything that's not mainstream so my points would be futile. it's quite ironic about these artists in society. i enjoy dylan's music yes. but we're told to look up to the beatles, marley and such yet we're told not to drugs.

WRONG!! please name these recent bands that even come close to the timeless message Zimmerman laid down. please, i would listen. or maybe you just dont understand the depths of his lyrics?

This looks like its from the same TV footage as the Times Changin clip. Are they supposd to be stranded in a cabin? Anyone out there know more? I'm also looking for the '65 or 66 discussion twit Dylan and Keith Richards about how he could write Satisfaction in a minute, but they could never write Like a Rollin Stone.

wow. they're so many great bands who have tons of political meaning in their songs. we don't need another dylan, cause dyland is good enough. we need less people like you who see there is so much more music besides the mainstream that is amazing. yeah dylan is great but it's not like we need a copy. look up music online, there's a lot to find besides the radio and tv.

Yeah the USA could do with another Dylan, but remember what he said 'songs cant change the world.'
