Unfortunately, I'd rather pay some drug-addled bum to make horse noises through a paper-towel holder than listen to most modern "indie-rock". Most of it just seems too derivative to really affect a discerning listener, or to make any significant cultural impact.

indie cannot be defined. the music has heaps of sub-genres (one being acoustic), but generally its easy to pick an indie rock song through the guitar style. not saying all indie songs have to have guitars either but thats the thing with indie, it's basically undefined. it started with being "individual" but when some idiot put a name on it, it's no longer ... what it was originally intended to be. this is probably an inadequate description. but it's one of those taboo kinda topics.

Well I'm sure this song was written while they were still "indie" so just because it's now recorded in a studio doesn't change the meaning of the song... besides maybe he's just singing about his love for indie music and the innocence of it...
